Q: How did you first get started in fashion modeling? What inspired you to pursue this career?
A: I had always been very sporty kid growing up and was picked on for my small size and height so I never really thought that modelling was going to be something that I’d want to do is an adult. Then when I was in high school I was approached by a small Adelaide based agency which led me to do a little more research into other agencies in Melbourne and I found Viviens. I signed with them after doing a test shoot and have loved it ever since. So it all started somewhat by accident but I’m glad I did my research and found an agency that I love.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being a fashion model? What aspects of the job bring you the most satisfaction?
A: What I love most about modelling is that you get to do something completely different each day. Some days you might be on set in a studio, other days you’re working with animals, and other days your doing a crazy hair shoot. What’s so special about the industry is you get to meet so many people along the way. I think it’s very rare to find a job in any industry that you feel like you’re doing something new every single day.
Q: Can you share a memorable experience or highlight from your career as a fashion model? What made it special or significant to you?
A: I think the most memorable experience I’ve had so far working as a model is my stay in Sydney. I had been planning and working towards moving up to Sydney for a period of time to pursue modelling, and I ended up making the move in August 2022, I stayed until the start of December and it was the most amazing experience in my career. Not only did I get to meet and work with so many new teams; I made so many friendships during that trip that I’ll have for years!
Q: What advice would you give to aspiring models who are looking to break into the industry? Any key lessons or insights you've learned along the way?
A: Don’t try to be someone or something that you’re not. When I first started out, I used to blow dry my hair straight for every casting and job, my whole book was me with straight hair and I wasn’t really working much. Then when I decided to embrace what I have which is super wild curly hair, I’m now booked mostly because of my hair. You never know what designers are looking for, trends are always changing, so don’t try and be something you’re not at the expense of your unique features.
Q: Outside of modeling, what are some of your other passions or hobbies? How do you like to unwind and recharge when you're not working?
A: Im still studying full time and I work part time as a sports coach at a high school, as I had a very athletic upbringing, I now coach the sports I used to compete in which are Athletics, Cross Country, and Snowsports. I’m also working on my own clothing label at the moment called Bee and Bare Clothing, so that is also keeping me busy in between modelling work.
